Discover the smart rendering capabilities Premiere Pro offers and create a better quality output.

When exporting, smart rendering can be used for certain formats to create better quality output by avoiding recompression when possible. Smart rendering works only if the source codec, size, frame rate, and bit rate match the export settings. Supported formats for smart rendering are:

Codecs in an MXF wrapper that support smart rendering

Hd422

XDCAM 422 with MOV wrapper is mac-only. Ask them if an MXF file is acceptable instead. It probably is. Just be aware that Avid will split out the XDCAM422 MXF with 8 discrete audio channels, exactly like your first 8 channels on your timeline (stereo tracks don't count - you have to split them into dual mono).

  • AVC-Intra in MXF (Format > MXF OP1a & Format > AS-11)
  • DNxHD & DNxHR in MXF (Format > DNxHR / DNxHD MXF OP1a)
  • DNxHD MXF OP-Atom to DNxHD MXF OP1a
  • JPEG 2000 (only works when using the 12-bit PQ space)
  • MXF OP-Atom AVC Intra to MXF OP1a AVC-Intra
  • MXF OP1a to DNxHD MXF OP1a
  • XDCAM HD (Format > MXF OP1a & Format > AS-10)
  • XDCAM EX (Format > MXF OP1a)
  • XAVC-Intra in MXF (Format > MXF OP1a)

Opmerking:

To activate smart rendering for codecs in an MXF wrapper, check the “Enable smart rendering codec” option found under the Video settings tab of the preset.

Codecs in a QuickTime wrapper that support smart rendering

  • Animation
  • DNxHD
  • GoPro CineForm
  • NONE: Uncompressed RBG 8-bit
  • ProRes 422
  • ProRes 422 (HQ)
  • ProRes 422 (LT)
  • ProRes 422 (Proxy)
  • ProRes 4444

Opmerking:

Smart rendering for QuickTime codecs is automatically enabled any time the source settings match the export settings.

QuickTime Match Source (Rewrap) is only supported for several compatible video streams. These include most combinations of the following QuickTime codecs:

  • Animation
  • Apple ProRes (422 & 4444 flavors)
  • DV (25, 50 & DVCPROHD)
  • GoPro CineForm
  • None.

Note that if your source clips are not one of these codecs, then QuickTime Match Source (Rewrap) is not supported and displays a warning.

QuickTime Match Source (Rewrap) is only supported for a number of compatible video streams. These are basically the codecs that are supported for Smart Render. These would include most combinations of the following QuickTime codecs: Animation, Apple ProRes (422 & 4444 flavors), DV (25, 50 & DVCPROHD), GoPro CineForm and None. If your source clips are not one of these codecs, then QuickTime Match Source (Rewrap) is not supported and will provide the warning you mentioned.

Special cases that are supported for smart rendering

  • DV/DVCPRO/DVCPRO HD
  • MXF OP1a AVC-Intra to QuickTime AVC-Intra
  • QuickTime XDCAM to MXF OP1a XDCAM
  • QuickTime XDCAM HD to MXF OP1a XDCAM HD
  • QuickTime AVC-Intra to MXF OP1a AVC-Intra

Opmerking:

  1. DV, DVCPRO, and DVCPRO HD formats smart render whether they are in a QuickTime wrapper, MXF wrapper, or go between two different wrappers.
  2. To smart render to/from QT AVC-Intra, install the QT AVC-Intra codec.
  3. The format in which you are smart rendering determines the option to smart render in these special cases. For example, if you are smart rendering to an MXF OP1a format, you must enable the smart rendering check box. An exception is smart rendering DV/DVCPRO/DVCPROHD is always enabled regardless of the wrapper you are exporting to.

Fix an issue caused by codecs that have not been activated

Premiere Pro and Encore use some codecs that require activation. If activation of these codecs has failed, they are not available.

When you open a project in Premiere Pro, one or more of the following happens:

  • You receive the following error:

Adobe Premiere Pro: This project contained a sequence that could not be opened. No sequence preview preset file or codec could be associated with this sequence type.

Note:

Sometimes, codecs aren't available because the software can't communicate to the activation server.

  • When you import footage, the footage is missing audio or video.
  • When you launch Encore, the program returns the following error:

'Encore will not launch in non-royalty bearing mode. The application needs to be serialized with a royalty bearing serial number.'

Also, when you try to create a project, only DV sequence presets are available. For example, when you create a sequence, the following sequence preset groups are not listed:

ARRIAVC-IntroAVCHD
Canon XF MPEG-2Digital SLRHDV
RED R3DXDCAM EXXDCAM HD422
XDCAM HD

Try the following solutions in order. If the first solution does not resolve the issue, try the next solution, and continue until the issue is resolved.

  1. Lamborghini wallpaper. Launch Premiere Pro by clicking the application icon. Do not attempt to load a project file.

  2. Choose New Project, then create a project. The settings you choose in this step are not important.

  3. Deactivate Premiere Pro. Choose Help > Sign Out. Then, in the Creative Cloud dialog box, click the Sign Out button.

  4. Quit Premiere Pro, and then relaunch it as you did in step 1.

Program hotkeys on mac for interactive brokers

  5. On the Sign In Required screen, click Sign In Now.

  6. Click Adobe ID for a personal account. Click Enterprise ID for a company or school account.

  7. Sign in with your Adobe ID, then click the Sign In button.

  8. Click Continue. The full list of sequence presets is reinitialized.

  9. Open the project that generated the error to ensure that it opens correctly. If you are still unable to open your project, go to the next section.

To reset the Premiere Pro preferences, hold down the Alt (Option) and Shift keys immediately after you launch Premiere Pro. Hold Alt (Option)+Shift until you see the Welcome Screen. The preferences and plug-in cache are now reset.

Note:

If the preferences have successfully reset, the Recent Projects area of the Welcome screen is blank. (Holding Alt [Option] alone on launch resets the preferences. Holding Shift alone deletes the plug-in cache.)

Close all open Adobe applications. Move the following folders to the desktop (folder locations for each operating system are noted):

  • SLCache
    • Windows: /Program Files (x86)/Common Files/Adobe
    • Mac OS: Library/Application Support/Adobe
  • SLStore
    • Windows: /ProgramData/Adobe
    • Mac OS: Library/Application Support/Adobe
  • OOBE
    • Windows: /Users/AppData/Local/Adobe
    • Mac OS: /User/Library/Application Support/Adobe

Now launch Premiere Pro and sign in with your Adobe ID.

Note:

Make sure that your antivirus software or firewall is not blocking any Adobe activation servers. Check with the manufacturer of your antivirus software or firewall for more information on blocking and unblocking programs.

  1. Follow the steps in Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems. These steps outline the process of uninstalling Premiere Pro, running a cleanup utility, and reinstalling Premiere Pro.

  2. When prompted for activation during launch, ensure that the computer is online and complete activation.

If you cannot bring the computer online, complete the offline activation during the first launch of the software. Do not choose to activate later.

Creative Cloud for enterprise customers can receive two different serial numbers for use in installation. One of these serial numbers is labeled Video, and one is labeled Non-Video.

Install Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition, SpeedGrade, Prelude, Encore CS6, and Media Encoder using the serial number labeled as Video.

To resolve this issue, reserialize using the Adobe Provisioning Toolkit, Enterprise Edition.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, please submit a detailed bug report.
